An honest, upbeat and realistic guide to being an EV driving instructor exploring the rise of automatics, the ups and downs of life in an electric car, whether it’s the right choice for you and an appraisal of the current situation as we head towards a rather exciting future. 

Rob has been an ADI since 2006, EV driving instructor and enthusiast since 2017 and co-organiser of the Nottingham EV Owners Club. 

Andrew Drewary – Road Safety Consultant, Road Safety Smart

Session title: Young drivers and in-vehicle technology: Safer driving or a disaster waiting to happen 

Interactive session about the positives of in-vehicle technology and how it can make them better drivers; the negatives of in-vehicle technology and how it can lead them on a road to disaster. 

Andrew is a multi award winning road safety consultant now promoting road safety awareness and driver training about the lessons learned from investigating over 37,000 collisions.

Lin Western – Head of Training, ADINJC

Session title: Assess and mark the top 5 fails on a practical test

Lin will look at the Top 5 fails on a practical test. She will look at the assessment for these fails and how you can teach to avoid these marks.

Lin has been an instructor/trainer for 33 years – working as a DVSA Car/LGV examiner. Lin is also ADINJC Head of Training carrying out training at workshops, groups and driving schools across the country.

Annabel Wallis MBE – Owner, Annabel’s School of Motoring

Session title: Are you “fit” to drive?

A holistic approach for ADI’s, including nutrition, weight, posture, core stability, dehydration.

Annabel has 22 years service in the British Army as a Physical Training Instructor and Exercise Rehabilitation Instructor. She was also awarded an MBE for Service to Sport and Rehabilitation.  

Phil Hirst – Driving Instructor Trainer, Phil Hirst Instructor Training

Session title: ORDIT –Shared Experience

Phil will give a brief introduction to what ORDIT is, who it’s for and the benefits of joining. He will then share the experience and outcomes of his own ORDIT assessment which took place last summer, just a few months after the new, revised terms and conditions for membership were introduced by DVSA.
A firm believer in best practice, Phil has been an ORDIT-registered trainer since its inception in 1998, hoping one day it will become mandatory to join.

Diane Hall – ADI, Therapist, Author, L of a way 2 Pass

The techniques from her book and online course are used by learners and instructors throughout the UK, to help control the negative emotions that affect the learning process, and also to help pupils with dyslexia/dyspraxia
