ADINJC & Intelligent Instructor National Conference & Expo ’24

About

The ADINJC & Intelligent Instructor National Conference & Expo ’24 is the most popular event in a driving instructor’s calendar! In 2023, it welcomed over 950 visitors, making it, by far, the largest single gathering of instructors in the UK – ever!

This year, we anticipate over 1,200 visitors to this free-to-attend event, designed specifically for you, the driving instructor. It’s being held on Sunday, 29th September, at the Newark showground, Nottinghamshire.

Visitors can immerse themselves in a wealth of knowledge at a wide range of topical seminars which run throughout the day, in three dedicated areas. The Live Stage sees some of the industry’s top trainers deliver educational sessions and the DVSA’s Chief Executive, who will provide an industry update. The PDI Zone is a popular attraction, with dedicated sessions designed to help those new to the industry. A third seminar area sees a wide range of topics covered by expert speakers, from road safety to marketing, from accountancy advice to business advice. In total, 24 sessions are running throughout the day.

The giant expo areas offer unrivalled access to 40+ industry suppliers. They showcase their latest products and services and offer a valuable opportunity to see what’s new on the market to help your business flourish. Many have special offers, deals, and freebies to give away.

There’s more than just learning at the event. We’ve lined up many fun activities to keep you entertained and engaged. Outside is an HGV reversing challenge, whilst you can test-drive an adapted vehicle to help teach those with disabilities and chat with the enthusiastic EV owners in the largest display of driving instructor EVs, which you are also free to drive. You can get a free professional headshot from our event photographer and wind prizes at our Speed of Sight charity, Tombola.

We aim for visitors to come away educated, invigorated, thinking differently, and passionate about being instructors. We also want you to have fun while doing it! If you are new to the industry, considering becoming a driving instructor, an independent instructor, or even part of a franchise, the ADINJC & Intelligent Instructor National Conference & Expo’ 24’24 is a must-attend event.

HGV reversing challenge

HGV reversing challenge

Off the back of the hugely successful HGV reversing challenge last year, our headline sponsor, AcciDON’T Driving School, has lined up not one, not two, but three HGVs. Experience what it’s like to get behind the wheel of a big vehicle and navigate around, including their reversing challenge.

Don’t worry—an expert AcciDON’T instructor will sit alongside you to guide you through it. It was such a popular attraction last year that there are now three HGVs to drive in an expanded outdoor area to help avoid the queues.

Giant Scalextric

Giant Scalextric

Relive your youth and have some fun on this eight-lane giant Scalextric track. Test your skills against other instructors by racing them to be the fastest around the track. There are some fabulous prizes up for grabs, too, so if you post one of the fastest laps, there will be a double delight with you making the podium and taking home one of the prizes on offer, courtesy of our sponsor Drive.Day.

Emergency braking demo

Emergency braking demo

Ever wonder what kind of safety kit your car was fitted with? Do you know your ABS from your AEB? Do you know what ADAS stands for? Experts in our outdoor demo area will reveal all and help you understand, then explain to your learners what all these safety devices cars are fitted with actually do. Try driving at a high pace into a parked car and see how the emergency braking system really works. Buckle up for the ride!

EV display & test drives

EV display & test drives

Meet 25+ fellow EV driving instructors in our impressive electric vehicle display. Pop outside to have a chat and hear what the instructors think about teaching in their electric cars, and feel free to go for a spin in one, too.

So far, our line-up includes BMW ID3, Cupra Born, Honda e:Ny1, Hyundai Kona 64, Kia Niro EV 4, MG 4, Mini Electric, Peugeot e-208, Renault Megane e-Tec, Renault Scenic e-Tech, Renault Zoe 50, Smart #1, Tesla M3, Vauxhall Corsa-e, and the Volvo EX30.

Test drives can be arranged on the day with the BMW ID3, Cupra Born, MG4, Hyundai Kona, Kia Niro, Vauxhall Corsa-e, Peugeot e-208, Renault Zoe, Renault Megane, Renault Scenic, Volvo EX30, Smart, Mini, and Tesla. You just need to bring your driving license with you, and have your NI number handy, so we can generate a license check code.

If you want to join the line-up, contact Ruedi from YES! Driving School, who’s once again coordinating this, [email protected].

Virtual reality experience

Virtual reality experience

Experience what is like to be involved in real life crash in the Leicestershire Fie & Rescues Virtual Reality Van. Taka set, pop on a VR headset, and be prepared to be immersed in an experience like no other. Just remember, it’s not real, but a great way of conveying key road safety messages.

Adapted vehicle display & test drives

Adapted vehicle display & test drives

Meet the team from Disability Driving Instructors and Driving Mobility who are on hand to offer help and advice if you are interested in becoming a specialist disability driving instructor. See how the cars are set up to help those with disabilities and feel free to take a test drive in one of our cars fitted with adaptations to see how disabled people can drive. Feel free to book ahead to arrange your slot for the test drive, by emailing John, [email protected].

Wheelbarrow challenge & tyre checks

Wheelbarrow challenge & tyre checks

Our friends at Tyresfe will be running a wheelbarrow challenge in our outdoor activity area to demonstrate the importance of correctly inflated tyres. They are also available to check your tyres for free. They’ll use the latest technologies, including AI on a mobile phone, to read the sidewall.

Professional headshots

Professional headshots

Have a professional headshot taken, so you can use in your marketing, and on your ADI/PDI licence. Visit our professional photographer’s portable studio on the day, next to the main restaurant, from 2pm-3pm, to have your photograph taken. We’ll email the digital image through, and it’s completely free of charge. Don’t forget to say ‘cheese’!
